Getting started

Does everyone need an account?

No. One player can create an Open Play game and use proxies for friends who have not joined. They can later claim the correct identity and games through the invitation/proof flow. A registered account is required to sign in and perform account actions.

Is this the production app?

This website links to staging for testing. Data may be reset and will not transfer to production. Features are still being refined. No public production launch date or App Store availability is promised here.

What should I set up first?

Confirm your email, finish Profile and select a recognized city. Find and favorite your regular clubs, add Clubs I play at in Profile, and review Game Display preferences. A group is optional. Follow the quick start.

Is VOP+ a paid subscription right now?

The staging Manage plan dialog is a simulation. Upgrading marks your testing account as a VOP+ Subscriber without charging you or changing a production plan. Free shows today and the previous 13 calendar dates; simulated Plus includes all history you are authorized to view. Downgrading preserves older games. Real paid billing is not implemented.

Can I put it on my phone’s Home Screen?

Yes, in a supported browser using the HTTPS app address. Look for Add to Home Screen in Safari on iPhone, or Install app / Add to Home Screen in Chrome on Android. Browser options vary. You can continue using the web app if no install option appears.

Can I record scores offline?

Saves need a connection. Offline mode provides the app shell and reconnection guidance, not private game history or queued score submissions. Reconnect, check the current game and save. Save or cancel edits before accepting an app update.

Clubs, groups & visibility

How do I add a club that is not listed?

Open Settings → Clubs/Locations, search by name or city, then choose + Add Location if it is missing. Enter the name, optional address, Country and a selected listed city; Region can narrow the search. Choose Save location, then star it if you play there regularly. See the illustrated club guide.

Is favoriting a club the same as joining a group?

No. Favorites order your club picker and sync across devices. Clubs I play at in Profile helps prioritize relevant player suggestions. Group membership is a separate accepted player affiliation and controls qualifying group results.

Why can’t I save the city I typed?

You must select a matching result, rather than only typing a city name. Check Country and Region, type at least two letters, then choose the correct city. The directory validates the place; it does not verify a club’s existence or street address.

Can I edit, delete or merge a club?

Only the location creator can edit/delete it. Linked games or tournament events can block deletion. For a duplicate of the same real club, its creator can review a merge into the existing entry; tournament moves require the necessary event edit permissions. Scores, verification and Game IDs are preserved. Review carefully: removing the duplicate cannot be undone in the app.

How do I create a regular-play group?

Go to Settings → Groups → My Groups → + Create Group. Choose a name, description, optional common club, visibility, membership policy and Game Qualification. Check similar names before creating. Then use Players → Invite / add selected. See the illustrated group guide.

How do the three Game Qualification rules differ?

Opposing Members needs an accepted member on each side. 2+ Members Any Side needs at least two accepted members anywhere, including as partners. Members Only needs every participant to belong to the group. Pending invitations/requests do not count. Try the interactive doubles example.

Do games from before I joined count? What if I leave?

Group results use current accepted membership and the current inclusion rule. Earlier games can enter when you join and stop qualifying when someone leaves or is removed. A recorded game is not deleted when it stops qualifying. Leaving a private group ends private-group access; your own participant access follows its separate rules.

Does an invitation or request make me a member?

Not yet. Registered invitees must accept, and requests must be approved. Pending invitations and requests do not grant private member access or count for group game qualification. Permitted admins can directly add eligible proxies; the proxy creator does not accept on their behalf.

Why does a public group or club show fewer games?

Public views show the public-eligible subset. A public game must also meet claimed-player visibility rules. A later private claim can remove it from public lists and counts. Member access, history limits and display preferences can produce a different view.

Does the group’s common club limit where we can play?

No. It helps discovery and provides context. Qualifying games can be played elsewhere. Use a location filter when you want to focus the view on one club.

Recording, proxies & verification

Why can’t I start a game?

Choose a club and fill every position with distinct players: four for doubles or two for singles. Registered players and proxies both count. Review any inline validation message. Court number is optional.

Can four friends rotate partners without creating a tournament?

Yes. In a complete four-player doubles setup, Round Robin Games creates three games so everyone partners with each other once. Each game gets its own score and appears in Open Games until scored. A separate tournament is not required.

Where are the games that still need scores?

Home → Open Games lists saved games without final scores. It is not a live attendance list. Resume Game Setup restores an unfinished setup; it is different from reopening a saved game.

What is a proxy, and can my friend claim it later?

A proxy represents a real player who has not linked the identity to an account. Use an existing local proxy where appropriate. Through Invite, the intended player completes creator-code or eligible previous-game proof, reviews the identity and selects games they played. Claiming links records; it does not verify a score. Read the full claim sequence.

Does a QR, link or game code claim my spot?

No. It opens Game Details. The assigned registered player still confirms their own position; a proxy requires the separate identity-claim process. A permanent Game ID identifies the record and is different from its invitation code.

How many players must verify an Open Play score?

One eligible claimed opposing player is enough. The submitter cannot verify their own score, and their teammate cannot verify it. If a non-playing creator submits, an eligible claimed participant on either team may review. After verification, Verify/Dispute disappears for everyone.

Can I keep games that nobody verifies?

Yes. The score stays saved as unverified. For Open Play, Display All Games can include completed unverified results; Only Display Fully Verified Games excludes them from the relevant history/statistics. Tournament advancement requires verified results.

Can I correct a wrong score or wrong player?

An Open Play creator or currently claimed registered participant can edit a final score within the original one-hour window. A changed score needs new verification. A wrong identity association uses I did not play in this game, separately from a score disagreement; if already claimed, unclaim first. Tournament corrections use authorized, audited event controls.

What if we created a game but never played it?

The creator can open the unscored game and use Game wasn’t played? Discard, then confirm. This permanently removes the unscored game and its invitations. A scored game cannot be discarded through this action.

Stats, history & ratings

Why are games or players missing from my stats?

Check dates, club, group, division, Game Display preferences and available history. Free covers the latest 14 local calendar dates. Unscored and cancelled games do not count. A game you only created for others is not your own played result. Tournament and Open Play statistics are separate.

Why am I not on the Open Play leaderboard?

Select the correct club and filters. Only included completed games count toward the minimum-games floor (normally five; a group can set its own). Exact pairs must qualify together. Verified-only and privacy rules may reduce included games. My Stats does not use this leaderboard qualification floor.

What does Avg PD mean?

It is the average of your team’s score minus the other team’s score. An 11–8 win is +3; a 7–11 loss is −4. Those two games average −0.5. It measures score margins, so a winning record can still have a negative value.

How are Open Play leaderboard ties sorted?

Win% sorts by Win%, then Avg PD, then Games. Games sorts by Games, then Win%, then Avg PD. Wins sorts by Wins, then Win%, then Avg PD. Numbers descend and use unrounded values before player-name and stable-identity tie breaks.

Will my filters be remembered?

Last-applied filters are remembered separately per account and screen on this device. Applying/Find saves your changes. Both leaderboards require one club; personal Stats/history can use All Locations. Clearing browser data or changing devices starts fresh preferences.

Is the app connected to an official rating system?

No official ratings integration is claimed. A profile may show a self-rating or player-entered DUPR rating. These are informational and do not calculate Open Play standings. Private proxy perceived ratings stay creator-only; optional tournament ratings are separate event values.

What is the difference between Display Ratings and Share My Rating?

Display Ratings in My Preferences controls whether you see available badges. Share My Rating in Profile controls sharing your own optional rating with authorized viewers. A saved game’s rating snapshot is not rewritten by later profile edits; current sharing rules still apply.

Tournaments & organizers

How do I create a tournament?

Confirm your account, complete Profile and enable Tournament Organizer in Settings → My Preferences → Tournament Settings. On Tournament Home, open Organizer → Manage Tournaments → Create Tournament. Save the event, then add players. Follow the organizer quick start.

Can a tournament guest play without an account?

Yes, if an authorized organizer admits an eligible proxy while Allow Proxy Players is enabled. Acceptance, eligibility and actual attendance still need to be resolved. Admitted proxies can remain unclaimed through play and claim later. Ordinary registered partners still accept their own invitations.

Does creating, watching or sharing an event register me?

No. Creating/managing is not registration. Watching adds an accessible event to your calendar. Sharing a link does not invite, approve or register a player and does not bypass private or Group Exclusive access.

Which formats are supported?

Round Robin, Random Draw, King of the Court, Single Elimination and True Double Elimination, with supported singles/doubles divisions and fixed/rotating structures. Optional elimination playoffs apply after supported Round Robin/Random Draw formats. Main elimination is already a bracket. King of the Court instead uses verified cycles and an optional championship round robin.

What must happen before King of the Court movement?

The eight-player format uses High and Low Court, with three rotating-partner games on each court per cycle. All six scores must be entered and verified before court movement. Organizers review and resolve ties under the event’s settings. Unverified scores do not count in KOTC standings.

Why does Final Results still say the tournament is In Progress?

Final Results and event completion are separate. A permitted organizer/co-admin must review verified placements and unresolved items, then confirm COMPLETE. Missing/unverified scores or unresolved bracket review can prevent completion. Completed events move to Previous/Past Tournaments.

Are tournament games added to Open Play stats?

No. Games offers All, Open Play and Tournament scopes, while Stats has separate mode views. Tournament personal totals use verified games; medal/game leaderboards use authorized completed events. Tournament leaderboard qualification does not use the Open Play minimum-games floor.

Can I manually rewrite a running schedule or record a forfeit?

Manual schedule editing and explicit injury/forfeit handling remain pending. Do not create invented scores. Some authorized reset/correction controls can remove generated scores and require review/confirmation; use the app’s help or support before changing dependent matches.

Support & account choices

Where can I ask a question or report a bug?

Open Help (?) in the app header for the built-in guide and FAQ. Settings → Feedback & Support lets you submit a subject/message and track Open/Resolved status. Include the page and relevant Game ID or event name. You can also email support@versagaldigital.com.

Can other players see everything I record?

Visibility depends on the game, currently claimed players, group membership and the screen’s access rules. Public settings do not override another player’s privacy. Review Profile privacy and Game Setup visibility before recording. A shared link is not a permission bypass.

Does deleting my account delete everyone’s game history?

No. Account deletion is separate from downgrading and is permanent. Shared game records, scores and history can remain as described in the in-app deletion flow. Transfer or delete groups you own first. Review that screen’s current explanation before confirming; downgrading alone preserves your account and older games.

Still need a hand?

In the app, use Settings → Feedback & Support so you can follow your submission. Include what you expected, what happened, and the relevant Game ID or tournament name.
